- 요약 본 연구는 최근 OTT 플랫폼을 중심으로 BL(Boys’ Love) 콘텐츠가 대거 제작, 유통되고 있는 경향에 주목하여 그 배경과 대중화 성공 전략을 왓챠 오리지널 시맨틱 에러의 텍스트 및 수용 특징 분석을 통해 고찰하였다. 시맨틱 에러는 이전까지 특정 플랫폼을 중심으로 남성 동성애 취향을 가진 소수의 여성 수용자들에 의해 향유되었던 BL을 대중적 차원으로 이끌어내는 데 기폭제가 된 작품으로 평가받는다. 장기간의 시청 순위 1위 기록을 비롯해 화제성, 관련 IP의 상업적 성공 등 화려한 성적표 뒤에는 치밀한 대중화 전략이 숨어있었다. 결과적으로 시맨틱 에러는 BL 수용자 확장을 겨냥한 전략적 수위 조절, 수퍼 IP를 배경으로 한 수용자들의 변주 즐기기를 비롯해 원작인 소설, 웹툰, 드라마 등 각 IP 간 관심 증가로 이어지며 더 많은 수용자로 확산했으며 이는 다시 시장성 확보의 기반이 되며 선순환했다. 시맨틱 에러는 ‘공(攻)×수(受)’ 등 정형 BL의 클리셰를 탈피해 진화된 BL형을 제시했다는 점에서도 의미가 있다. 고정된 남녀관계의 권력구조를 반영하는 정형성에서 벗어나 사랑, 우정, 성장 등에 초점을 맞춘 스토리 전개는 시청자들에게 BL이 아닌, 보통의 드라마로 인식되며 ‘콘텐츠’로서의 매력과 경쟁력으로 작용했으며 이를 텍스트 및 수용자 반응 분석을 통해 확인하였다.| Focusing on the recent trend of producing and distributing a large number of BL (Boys' Love) contents on OTT(over-the-top) platforms, this study examined the background and popularization success strategy through a text and acceptance characteristics analysis of WATCHA Original’s series “Semantic Error”. "Semantic Error" is evaluated as a work that has been a catalyst for bringing BL to the public level, which was previously enjoyed by a small number of female fans with male homosexual tastes on specific platforms. A meticulous popularization strategy was hidden behind the spectacular report cards, including securing the long-term No. 1 viewer ranking creating topics of conversation, and achieving the commercial success of related IPs. As a result, “Semantic Error” spread to more audiences, leading to increased interest among IPs such as novels, webtoons, and dramas, as well as strategic level control aimed at expanding BL audiences and enjoying variations based on Super IP. “Semantic Error” is also meaningful in that it presented an evolved BL type by breaking away from the cliché of stereotypical BL such as 'seme' and 'uke'. The story development, which focuses on love, friendship, and growth, was recognized by viewers as an ordinary drama, not BL, and served as a pointt of attraction and competitiveness as a “content” which was confirmed through text and audience response analysis.
