- 요약The core question of my thesis is: How do two cells become one? The main practical goal of my thesis was to sequence and analyze the genome of a species of diatom in the genus Epithemia. In pursuit of these, I have performed observational work of Epithemia morphological and genomic characteristics which I also report here. The chapter structure of this thesis is approximately chronological and bottom-heavy. The main chapters will address the following:• Isolation and identification of model for endosymbiotic organellogenesis • Genomic features of this new model • Findings that challenge existing theories of organellogenesis Introduction and closing remarks will address history and philosophy in eukaryotic origins and endosymbiosis.
