- 요약Scanning electron microscopic examination of the dorsal cuticular structure of local terrestrial isopod species, and two aquatic species revealed morphological types that could be correlated with the moisture levels of their habitats. Type of response to disturbance in these groups can also be correlated with the morphology and habitat of the isopods examined. "Rollers" are characteristic of drier habitats and include Venezillo evergladensis, Armadillidium vulgare, and A. nasatum. "Clingers" are more common in mesic habitats but often exist in semi-xeric areas. This category includes Oniscus asellus, Porcellio scaber, P. spinicornis, and Trachelipus rathkei. "Creepers" (Miktoniscus medcofi, Haplothalamus danicus, and Androniscus dentiger) are endogean species in mesic to semi-hydric habitats. "Runners" inhabit mesic habitats (occasionally hydric) and include Ligidium elrodii, Porcellionides pruinosus, Trichoniscus pusillus, and Hyloniscus riparius). Trichorhina tomentosa, a species that exists in a wide range of moisture levels, did not conform to any of the eco-morphological groups. Two intermediate species were identified, Cylisticus convexus (between roller and clinger) and Porcellio laevis (between clinger and runner). Two aquatic species, Caecidotea racovitzai and Lirceus lineatus, were also examined and categorized as "swimmers". A key is provided for the Oniscoidea of Ohio.
