- 요약Assessing school quality can be a difficult task. This audiotape produced by the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory (NCREL) was designed to help listeners make sense of the process. The audiotape takes listeners on a guided tour of a typical mid dle and elementary school. The tour is conducted by a group of experienced educators, who share their insights and experiences in assessing school quality and performance. Their message: While assessment plays an important role in education, the total school quality picture includes much more. The second audiotape in this two-tape set examines the role that student assessment is--and should be--playing in school reform. The tape features interviews with such national experts as: (1) Michael Feuer, National Academy of Science; (2) George Madaus, Boston College; (3) Frank Newman, Education Commission of the States; (4) Lauren Resnick, New Standards Project; (5) Edward Roeber, Council of Chief State School Officers; and (6) Ramsay Selden, Council of Chief State School Officers. The experts debate whether or not testing programs, when used for accountability with the accompanying rewards and sanctions, will drive education in a directon that will help more students achieve the goals necessary for success in the 21st century.
